A note from Edward Stone regarding his philosophy on
the practice of criminal law:
"It is a feeling of panic, mixed with denial and
surrealism. The police officer has you in
handcuffs in the back of their cruiser. Chances
are that you have never been in a situation such as
this. You are not thinking clearly, you just want it to
end and you are willing to do almost anything for that
to happen. One questions races through your mind;
what do I do now?
You need a person to be your voice, your protector,
your advocate in the courtroom.
The arresting officer has an unfair advantage; he or
she has years of training and experience for this very
situation. He or she might be telling you that it
will be better for you to talk to them. The arrest
and subsequent questioning is just another day's work
for the police officer; what you do and say next will
affect your life.
The stakes are high....you may serve time in jail.
You may lose your driver's license for up to 18 months
or worse. As a result of the suspension of your
license, you may lose your job and your ability to
support yourself or your family. It is a critical
time for you.
You need to make decisions with less than complete
information and without the benefit of experience or
training.
I am sensitive to all of the above facts. You
are not just another client in my firm. I limit
the number of cases I carry at any particular time so
that my clients receive the personal attention to which
they are entitled.
The feelings of overwhelming stress and anxiety are
understood by each employee of The Stone Law Firm.
I believe that your last concern should be whether your
attorney has the time to work on your case.
I do not shy away from the courtroom, but I am
cognizant of my client's financial resources.
I am available at times of emergency and I know from
experience that emergencies often do not happen during
normal business hours.
E-mail me for an initial consult. I look forward to
hearing from you."
